paperback, split at tail end of upper joint but o/w a very good tightly bound copy, clean and unmarked, includes the Plots for five unpublished novels by Thomas Hardy, discovered in the 'Max Gate' papers by Miss Evelyn Hardy, 95pp. Loosely inserted are a review clipping of Miss Hardy's Thomas Hardy, two typed letters of 1969 & 1976 from her to the well known Hardy authority, James Gibson and a third mss letter to same - also in her hand and dated August 21st 1982. In the first she rages against a London bookshop selling her work contrary to rights, rages against Adams & Purdy -"there's villainy for you!", rages against print workers, pollution, new road signs, and rages also against her struggles in finding a publisher.
