hardback, quarto, 9 1/2" x 7 1/2", brown morocco binding with gilt borders and dentelles, lettered 'Album' to spine, blocked to upper board and spine with a design in gilt, leaves in various colours, all edges gilt. Essentially a scrap-abum with a mounted title page containing the owner's name, Matilda Bayes and dated 1839. A few leaves of poetry in script, 'Lines composed while walking after a thunder-storm'. Cuttings primarily from travel volumes and featuring churches, houses, castles, scenery both of the United Kingdom and Europe, two or three mounted sketches and drawings, a coloured image of Shepherd's Regents Canal Gas Works heightened in gum arabic and glaze, others from Dugdale's England & Wales, portraits, ships, colour scenes from Quebec, many prints of Cruickshank & Phiz, silk book mark celebrating the wedding of the Prince of Wales, Scripture maps, clergy etc,
