hardback, 9 4/5" x 7 1/2", bound in olive green cloth and lettered gilt to spine, top edge gilt and remaining edges rough-trimmed. Published in an edition limited to 600 copies of which this is numbered 55, the binding is tight, notable foxing and browning to the pre-lims, more sporadically to the body of the text, the plates are all clean. Nautical bookplate of Francis Henderson of 14 St Vincent Place, Glasgow, [member of the shipping line family] together with an inscription presenting the book to him by the wife of the late Professor James Moir of the University. Accompanying the book is a loosely enclosed handwritten letter to Henderson, written on behalf of Mrs Moir, by William Guy, Clerk of the Dean of Guild Office (Moir had been Guy's legal assessor). A further letter from same, typed, to Henderson, is dated 1927.
